Keep Our Republic seeks a Wisconsin State Director

Job Description
Non-partisan civic education non-profit is seeking a Wisconsin State Director. The successful applicant will work alongside the Executive Director, other staff colleagues and the Board and Advisory Council. 

The State Director will directly help in growing the organization’s efforts and presence across Wisconsin. The State Director will coordinate both administrative support and successful planning and execution of innovative in person and virtual events.

Keep Our Republic Background
Since its inception in 2020, Keep Our Republic has hosted both public and private convenings in the states which decided the 2020 Presidential election and will, inevitably, decide the 2024 Presidential election. Through non-partisan scholarship, our focus is on civic education around the nuances of the 12th Amendment, the Electoral Count Act and Presidential Emergency Powers. Events have been in partnership with undergraduate colleges, law schools and bar associations. Attendees are retired elected and appointed local, state and federal officials, academics and other community leaders.

Responsibilities

General duties will include developing and executing a comprehensive plan to monitor and prepare for all unconventional threats to the 2024 election. Specifically, the State Director will:

  • Act as a liaison with potential interested stakeholders and the general public
  • Assist Executive Director in programmatic budgeting needs, logistics and communications initiatives. 
  • Build a public facing State Advisory Council
  • Manage communications with interested stakeholders via a WI specific newsletter 
  • Assist in creation and editing of public presentations, documents, and reports

Job Requirements

  • Upward of 10 years in public affairs, civic life or electoral politics of Wisconsin
  • Be a quick study and intellectually curious, paying high attention to details
  • A passion for the mission with a keen sense of “country above party” 
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to work in a rapidly growing non-profit.
  • Ability to thrive in deadline-driven environment.
  • Be a self-starter who can work independently or collaboratively with a remote team.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Personable with ability to maintain sense of humor under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a proven academic and co-curricular interest in politics, policymaking and strategic communications.

While the position is almost entirely remote, the successful candidate must reside in Wisconsin.

Compensation

The successful applicant will serve as an independent contractor. The position will last through January 2025. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Job Description

Working alongside the Executive Director and the Board, the Program Assistant will directly help in growing the organization’s efforts and presence in Washington, DC as well in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The Program Assistant will coordinate both administrative support and successful planning and execution of innovative national and local in person and virtual events.

Responsibilities

General duties include assistance with scheduling, communications, research, writing proposals and event management. 

  • Provide calendar, travel, and administrative support to the Executive Director and Board
  • Act as a liaison with potential interested stakeholders and the general public and the Executive Director
  • Assist Executive Director in programmatic budgeting needs, logistics and communications initiatives. 
  • Plan monthly board meetings 
  • Manage communications with interested stakeholders via an internal newsletter 
  • Manage invoice submission for contractors ensuring invoices are submitted and paid monthly
  • Assist in creation and editing of public presentations, documents, and reports
  • Maintain reporter database and regular news clips

Compensation

This is initially a part time position. The successful applicant could transition within 60 to 90 days into a full-time role. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
